"Calculation of PARAMETERS centrifugal-hydraulic Atomisation"(CENFOR)

Application

The programme "Cenfor" is intended for calculation of technological and design data for Centrifugal-Hydraulic Atomisation (CHA) of various liquids and melts. the method CHA is used for powders and shot production. The method CHA mean that the liquid metal under the pressure (see the figure) enters tangentially to the swirling chamber 2 of centrifugal nozzle (CN) through the channels 1 and obtainig rotary movement. On output from the nozzle 3 rotating melt first forms the film 4 under influence of centrifugal forces . The film is unstable and breaks up onto drops 5.

The programme allows to decide 3 tasks:

DIRECT TASK. Using known design parameters of centrifugal nozzle CN (D-diameter of the swirling chamber, Dt- effective diameter of tangential channels, DN - diameter of the nozzle, N- number of channels) and initial technical characteristics of CHA process (pressure of melt and gas) is possible to determine target parameters of atomisation method (diameter of drops, melt flow rate, velocity and angle of drops departure from nozzle, etc)

RETURN TASK. Technical characteristics of CHA process will ensure necessary parameters of CN design.

DISTRIBUTION of DROPS. It allows to determine distribution parameters of drops according to their sizes: relative amount (%) of drops in the certain faction, mean mass diameter, median and mode of distribution.

Calculation basis.

The results of theoretical and experimental researches conducted in Ural firm NETRAMM laboratory on various metals and alloys, and literary dates on atomisation of various cold liquids were used.

Model Tests.

The results of calculations agreed to significant experimental data obtained from the literature and own researches of the authors. The error of calculations does not exceed on the average 5-10 %.
